About Us

The Tara Mustang Club was created in March of 1993 when ten fun loving people applied to the Mustang Club of America for a charter to form a club on the south side of Atlanta, Georgia. These people came from various backgrounds, were various ages, and had cars of varying degrees of restoration. The one that all of these people, and all who have joined them since, shared was a love of America’s original ponycar, the Ford Mustang.

Over the years, our club has grown to over seventy members. No matter what their age, gender, or background, all have found something special in the Tara Mustang club. Whether they have a pristine ’65 convertible, a thundering big block Shelby, a really cute Mustang II, or a late model that takes them everywhere everyday, or something in between, our members have fun sharing memories of their favorite car, showing them, working on them, or traveling together on some distant road trip.

Even our members who don’t currently own a mustang like to get together to reminisce and share stories. Our club meets once a month on the first Thursday night at 7:00 at the Heritage Bank in Fayetteville. These meetings provide opportunities for us to see each other, have fun plan get togethers, and plan for the year’s events. Each year, the Tara Mustang Club holds two shows. In the spring, since 1993 we have partnered with sponsor Gene Evans Ford to hold a show in Union City, Georgia on the south west side of Atlanta. This show has grown to annually include 120 Ford bodied and powered cars and trucks.

Each year, people from all over come to this show to have a good time and enjoy each other’s fellowship. Our members also have a great time putting this show on and seeing our friends come back each year. In 2006, we began putting on a fall show in conjunction with Summit Racing Equipment in McDonough, Georgia on the south side of Atlanta. This show had approximately 130 Ford bodied and powered cars and trucks attending. The proceeds from the shows fund club activities and our continued support of the Georgia Baptist Children’s Home in Palmetto, GA.

In addition to our show outings, we also plan several events both car and non-car related throughout the year including our famous Christmas party so that we can get together and have a good time with our friends and families.
